The V-SLIM is ideally suited to identifying and locating line insulation faults in subsea electrical distribution systems

Viper Subsea is in the process of developing the V-SLIM – a subsea insulation resistance and electrical integrity monitoring unit. Deployed by diver or ROV, the V-SLIM utilises five different electrical measurement techniques to identify the location of subsea electrical faults and also to record the general integrity of each electrical flying lead, the electrical connectors and the subsea electrical distribution unit. Data is made available in real time to the diver, ROV or surface vessel, thus allowing instant decisions to be made in respect of equipment replacement. This product reduces significantly subsea intervention times for electrical fault finding. The same unit can be used for the long-term monitoring and storage of data for trending and failure prediction purposes.
